Once the child has mastered a standing on the knees, slowly lower it forward so that its hands are leaned on the surface (of the sofa) and it is on all fours. In this position, swing it back and forth.During crawling, it is necessary to watch the heels- they must not evert inside out, so support them while the baby crawls. If the child does 2-3 steps, then stops, it means the legs begin to diverge, which prevents him from crawling. For this reason it is necessary to periodically bend the baby’s legs under the belly, moving them in the hip area. Do not forget that the back should be straight in the process of crawling. If the baby’s back starts to bend, you have to pat it slightly below the stomach using your palm. When the child feels pats, it strains the back muscles and the abdominals, straightening the back.Good luck to you and enjoy the new stage of the development of the child!
Crawl begins with the awakening of interest in the world around. Therefore, the main help that the baby needs is the opportunity to be on the floor more often, where you can move freely, and to provide it with interesting targets. For most healthy children this should be enough to want and be able to crawl. But if the child does not make attempts to move, you can specifically work out with it at the age of 8-9 months, to encourage crawling. The very first exercise, which can be performed with the child as early as in the first month of life - an imitation of crawling. Such crawling is based on a set of unconditioned reflexes, which the child is born with. Create repeated support for the legs. As the baby lies on its tummy, put your hand under the right foot of the child – it will push away; under the left foot – it will also push away. Later, in order to provoke crawling, lure the baby with toys and household items that are so enjoyable to babies. The toy should be put at a distance of 30-50 cm from the child, near it, otherwise the distance will seem unattainable for it and it will refuse to overcome it. Some children persistently refuse to stand on the knees. To do this, press the child’s back to your stomach, wrap under the armpits with one hand, while you’re putting it on the knees with the other hand, so that the straight back of the child remains pressed against your body, and its knees stand on a surface. Help your child to walk on the surface on its knees.
This way of movement is very useful for the child. The child develops physically; almost all of its muscles are strengthened. The coordination of movements is improved. The muscles that have been scarcely active so far - begin to work. Crawling is the preparation for the next stage - walking. When crawling, a child learns to think, because it needs to decide where to crawl and what for, and what’s the best way to do it. It masters different methods of crawling on different surfaces. The task of controlling the body without losing balance is not an easy one. The child develops coordination, and respectively, interaction between the two cerebral hemispheres, as while crawling, the right arm and left leg of the baby work simultaneously, as well as vice versa. Is it necessary to teach the child to crawl? If yes, in what cases? Each child has its own development rhythm. All children start to roll over, get up on all fours, crawl, sit, and walk in different moments. The baby ought to be helped if it lags far behind the developmental age norms. Even weakened children which are trained in gymnastics and massage since birth, significantly outperform their peers by one year of age.The muscles of the child should be prepared for movement on all fours. It should already roll from back to stomach and backwards on its own, sit without support. Otherwise crawling will lead to the formation of abnormal posture and bipedal locomotion difficulties in the future.
